I have considered consciousness from many different perspectives. The perspective I am currently exploring is that there is only one consciousness.
For the sake of this description lets call it universal consciousness, and lets call the consciousness that could be seen as my consciousness, individual consciousness. They are both the same consciousness, but individual consciousness is only part (or a subset) of universal consciousness.
Now so far there is nothing physical in…

Here is a good one for you. Our adventures into space should be viewed as validation for what we have already have within.
When we are introduced into this world, our "consciousness" isn't large enough to understand our own hands and feet. Through an expansion of consciousness (and very rapidly at first) our awareness grows (we gather information), We define the world around us by what we discover within ourselves. We have no preconceptions, we have not yet been exposed to the limits…

Our science recognizes that a single neuron in our brain is incapable of thought, feeling, sight, or any of the things we use to gather information, make connections to that information to give it meaning so that we can understand anything.
Now consider that our society is our social mind. Each of us merely a neuron in it. If we apply "as above, so below", what does that say about anything, any of us might say or do?

I found this today, I find it interesting.

There is a new hire at work I started working with today. So of course there was social conversation throughout the day. On the way home I mentioned this forum, and he asked me what it was about. Now of course I had to think about it a bit. Then I asked him if he went to the grocery store a lot. Of course he said he did. I asked him to think about his favorite thing in the store, the thing he buys most often. I asked him what row it was in, before he could answer, I asked him what was the…

I have been rambling on here at the forum for some time now. It seems the more I post, the less everyone else does. I get the impression that the different ways I connect things (and I am aware of how far out there I can be) is having an adverse effect on the interactions here.
If this is so, I do sincerely apologize.
My goal is to introduce perspectives that cause others to question some paradigms that (I think) we tend to just accept.
I would like to ask (at this…

I have mentioned repeating patterns often in my discussions here. I ran across this yesterday. It is a good example of what I've been trying to say. It is a bit shallow, but I think it will get the idea across.

The show is called "Mankind Decoded", if the link does not work, it can be found at the history channels H2 site.

People tend to get so wrapped up in their own truth, they forget that "the truth" applies to everyone. To see this truth you have to understand that that it is the same for all of us,
We create our lives from the difference of these 2 potentials, our own truth, and "the truth"
If you insist on your truth over "the truth", welcome to hell.
It is when we all start looking for "the truth" over our own truth that heaven is manifested.
Heaven is what faith in "the…

By living deeply in the present moment we can understand the past better and prepare for a better future.— Thich Nhat Hanh
Three cheers for this one.
We can most definitely find our tomorrow in the choices we make today.

Quotes
At any moment, you have a choice, that either leads you closer to your spirit or further away from it.— Thich Nhat Hanh
The sentiment here is wonderful, and admittedly true. None the less I think it's misleading. "At any moment" allows one to believe in other moments. "At any moment" in our current common language is followed by may or could, indicating 2 states. The truth (i believe) is "at every moment" there is only 1 state.
We do make choices…

Quotes
The Lord can pass an elephant through the eye of a needle. He can do whatever He likes.
-- RÂMAKRISHNA
The 1 thing that existed first, the source, the beginning, the truth, God, by whatever word or name we care to assign it, is a determined thing.
This is a tough concept to grasp, we think of whatever it is that created us as some all powerful thing (and it is), but, it has no awareness, it has no intention, it has no feeling.
The…

I want to apologize to everyone. I get this way when things get hard. I have a rational thinking animal inside me. I must shackle it with these perspectives, or it will trample (rationalize) what feeling I have.
This body is a vessel for the arrogance that is the source of all suffering. I have to keep the chains strong, for Our society pulls heavily on them.
In time I will (there it is again) find a perspective in which it will take it's true form and cooperate.
So I…

Quotes
How doth the Lord dwell in the body? He dwells in the body like the plug of a syringe, i.e. in the body, and yet apart from it.
-- RÂMAKRISHNA
The truth (God) exist within every fiber of our being, so the relationship is more like water and ice. We spend brief moments seemingly separate (as ice) from the water, and yet that is all we are.

About the time I started school (5 or 6), I came to a startling realization, doing "what I can do" was getting me into a lot of trouble.
The concept of "just because I can, doesn't mean I should" was formed.
I've spent the last 45 years trying to figure out the meaning of should.
As my understanding of "myself" grows, the way I see everything else changes, the information I get from any particular thing changes, my understanding of "myself" grows.
it's been a wild…

"All waters are brooded over by Nârâyana, but every kind of water is not fit for drink. Similarly, though it is true that the Almighty dwells in every place, yet every place is not fit to be visited by man. As one kind of water may be used for washing our feet, another may serve the purpose of ablution, and others may be drunk, and others again may not be touched at all; so there are different kinds of places. We may approach some, we can enter into the inside of others, others we must…
