Synesthesia is a rare neurological condition in which "stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic,
involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway." (From the
Wikipedia article on the subject). This results in a "fusion" of senses, such as seeing sounds or hearing colors. Other similar and strange results are possible: Some synesthetes experience certain numbers as "angry," for example.
Accounts of synesthesia often remind me of some accounts of clairvoyance--and vice versa.
Might the two be connected?
Are some so-called clairvoyants actually synesthetes?
Are some so-called synesthetes actually exhibiting clairvoyant abilities not recognized by scientists as such?
