Dear friends,

It was only too weeks ago that deadly storms ravaged several areas of the United States, in one of the largest tornado outbreak in history record.

Now is flooding.

According to the Huffington Post:

“In one of the worst cases of flooding since the Great Depression, the bulging, swollen Mississippi River is overflowing in record proportions, blanketing thousands of square miles across Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi, negatively impacting the environment, and causing billions of dollars in damage.” [1]

Such climatic events are already beginning to be so routine that we do not realize that we are already living in a different world.

Nothing will be as before.

All this makes that the words of Winston Churchill, in 1936, should be remembered:

“They go on in strange paradox, decided only to be undecided, resolved to be irresolute, adamant for drift, solid for fluidity, all-powerful to be impotent…  Owing to past neglect, in the face of the plainest warnings, we have entered upon a period of danger.  The era of procrastination, of half measures, of soothing and baffling expedience of delays, is coming to its close.  In its place we are entering a period of consequences….  We cannot avoid this period, we are in it now…”

For all his eloquency, Churchill was very biased and short sighted.

When India agitated for Independence, he commented that she is not capable of governing  herself. It was only after he was replaced by a Labor Government, India got its Independence.

I would like him to visit India now and see the rapid progress it made since Independence. Those who lived in India prior to Independence, now realize how little interest England and its politicians had in letting the country progress.
