John replied to Dewald Bester's discussion Hidden Blavatsky in the group HPB Theosophy
"I asked a friend, who happens to be a SatGuru, about some Buddhist text being absorbed somewhere into Hinduism, corrupting it/Hinduism. The answer I got was "In Hinduism one has to remember that the Historical Buddha was (1) viewed as an…"

Dewald Bester replied to Dewald Bester's discussion Hidden Blavatsky in the group HPB Theosophy
"to answer one of my own questions, i see Daniel Caldwell noted a possible source: http://blavatskyarchives.com/voiceparallelcolumns.htm though, to voice my real concern. which does not concern HPB specifically. If Devananda drew in uncritically, or…"

Hidden Blavatsky

I was browsing a book entitled "Meditations and Mantras" by a Swami Vishnu-Devananda - 3rd edition 1995. Published by Om Lotus Publishing. It is connected to the Swami Sivananda centre. Dewald Bester commented on Richard Ihle's blog post A Private Theosophical Email #1
"Hi Richard I would separate out some of the questions raised by your article. 1) Can Theosophical (HPB) statements be justified in their contemporary late 19th cent. setting. I would argue, yes. I wont dwell on that. 2) The real question is what to…"

Dewald Bester commented on Bikram Mehta's blog post Divergent perceptions
"Hi I think I've understood you. Though, one can never be certain on the internet. To me you have presented a 'commonsense' perspective on the issue, one which I am more or less trying to hang on to myself. Instead of analysing what…"

Dewald Bester commented on Bikram Mehta's blog post Divergent perceptions
"Hi I think the 'truth' and its possible apprehension by human beings has been a basic subject of western philosophy. More recently, I am thinking of phenomenology, correspondence theories of truth, coherence theories of truth, pragmatism,…"

Dewald Bester replied to John's discussion a meme on life
"Thanks, on the contextualising. I did not notice the Forum context. I should be a little more alert and sophisticated in my engagement with your website. Context does make a difference. The message did get me thinking though. Can we act without…"

Dewald Bester replied to John's discussion a meme on life
"Hi John I looked at this and for some reason my first instinct was to try to criticise it. I am not sure why, perhaps my nature is to criticise. I am going to think about that. Having counted to 10, some thoughts did come to my mind. The first is,…"

Dewald Bester replied to John's discussion Theosophical Society membership
"er, i thought my last sentence was ambigious. i dont meant tapping out of the conversation with me, which would not likely result in death - more like relief i imagine. i mean, giving into science too completely will result in the death of many…"

Dewald Bester replied to John's discussion Theosophical Society membership
"hi John, you say alot above. but, sticking to the parts I am interested in right now (and hoping that I understood you properly), the following are statements you make which I cannot see as being valid: 1) The TS is HPB focused. Totally untrue in my…"

Dewald Bester replied to John's discussion Theosophical Society membership
"hi John Yes, that is a telling statistic. I couldn't speak for the TS worldwide, but from the country i know, South Africa, the TS is hopelessly and completely lost and directionless. To be clear, i am giving my own opinion here. Why this is,…"
