Why did the sages of the past hide there wisdom and from whom? Everyone seeks truth within knowledge which is wisdom. Wisdom has many ways of interpretation. But why can't it just be put directly without interpreting? Are am I just babbling? Paul

This is a very important question.  I might sound like I'm babbling about this too as I'm not trying to answer the question I'm just posing ideas.., but if everyone knew what is to know about these ancient secrets, I wonder if there would be utter chaos and destruction.  Humans inability to control themselves has proven it, as it is running it's own course or so we think.  A little bit of unguided freedom has allowed the mishaps and ignorance in humanity to take place. Maybe one day everything will be revealed?  I have come to a realization that those that really want this information need to put the work in for that interpretation, that will show self discipline in all they do and how much they really want it and have control of it once they do know.  It could be natures way of singling out the weak?

On the other hand, for those that really want to know, I've also come to the realization that there is no easy way about it. Some people think if everyone knew of all the secrets and wisdom of the ages, sages or esoteric pages that there would be world peace and union over all.  Who knows right? If you take a Christian perspective, knowing this info didn't work in heaven (the Fall) I'm sure there's other examples out there.

Puzzlesolver,

Well put. "Some people think if everyone knew of all the secrets and wisdom of the ages, sages or esoteric pages that there would be world peace and union over all". "If you take a Christian perspective, knowing this info didn't work in heaven (the Fall) I'm sure there's other examples out there". To me true peace comes from without to within. Concerning the fall. The bible states the reason for it. Mankind was created (perfect), I wonder if this means in knowledge of good and evil as well? Adam was told the law and Satan disputed it and Adam and Eve believed Satan, therefore the fall.

It sounds to me like two words come to mind, power and politics, to govern or have power over others. to serve others or be served by others. I feel our human nature (the fall) is the culprit. If it's been sixty billion, six billion or six thousands years we still have wars, rapes, killings lying  etc. That leaves our fallen human nature. Paul

The knowledge was made deliberately secret for two reasons. First the possessor himself did not understand it and therefore was afraid to answer questions. Secondly it gave them tremendous political and social power. There could have been a commercial angle too, for all we know. So only those were considered worthy who will not ask questions, having gone through various rituals and declared faith in faith. The true knowledge holders like Buddha, Newton, Einstein and countless others never bothered to check if the recipient was worthy or not.

from an Indian perspective too, the system degraded itself into faith and all its various superstitious manifestation whereas originally the teachers lay a strong emphasis on logic and reasoning. Just because our current understanding and logic is not able to explain something satisfactorily does not mean that it is a secret. But hiding of knowledge has been the greatest weapon of mass domination (WMD) in our history.

It may be useful to browse through what a professor of Indian Philosophy is recommending to his students in the attached file.

Capt,

Excellent answer. I am exstremely nieve about human nature. It's hurts me when people try to decieve me for any reason. I love knowledge truth and wisdom. The fault of the last sentence is human nature itself. I also love philosophy (my understanding is the general understanding of life), psychology, why people think what they think and why, and theosophy the study of the divine or God (kjv). I have mastered (understanding my way, all the disiplines) my understanding is human nature understood. Thank you. Paul

Capt,

On the attachment. excellent reasoning and logic. We have to go on our past and present understanding to create a future understanding. I have a problem with the word (perfect). I want to be (perfect) in my understanding of others knowledge. The fault lies in (my understanding) of the word logic. I see the word or inference of the other persons reasoning, then try to embed it into my own personal understanding. It would seem my human nature and my fantisizing of being perfect has clouded my understanding of somone elses understanding. For what I see (or trying to understand others logic) could be subconsciously introducing my reasoning to change the others logic to mine. Example, we know (2x2=4). But what if subconsciously in my mind (4=2x2).

In my fanaticism for perfection my mind sees the equation differently than the original equation? Therefore I need to understand the original equation the way it is used and summit my understanding to argue my point. I worry about my mind sometimes with sentences like the preceeding one. Thanks for your patients.

Thanks Paul. Actually the Nyaya system, of which the learned professor is talking about, lays down the rules of logic to analyze any given question and arrive at an answer. It is necessary to learn this first before proceeding to understand the higher philosophies.

Excellent post.  Would  a idea about why people sumit to greed and such. My experience is (there original nature) of self over doing whats right for others. In that respect they to have low self esteem and lose there perspective of morality or doing the right thing. They can overcome their greed, except for ther original human nature (sin). My opinion and experence only. If ones Karma is not aligned with any morality then they will suffer the negative side of morality. I believe in balance of morality and negativity. There must be order in this world or ones illmorality will disturb them until they choose order over disorder and the consiquences  of misdeeds. Just my opinion and experience. Paul
