Why Theosophy Co/ISIS should make electronic edition of SD Commentaries available on Internet?

Already the genii is out of the box and no one can put it back. Surely
scanned copies of the book is circulating privately and nothing can be
done about it. There is a need for an electronic copy. Let us say you
are traveling and you do not want to carry the bulky book, you may want
to have a pdf file loaded to your netbook, which is legit. Since no
official pdf file is available for love or money, you will take it from
where ever you can find it. In course of time, it is more likely that
every theosophist in the world who wants an electronic copy will find
one for free.

In the circumstances, the most practical thing to do is for Theosophy
Company/ISIS itself make an electronic copy available on Internet with some
suggested donation on the lines of shareware software. Most theosophists
are reasonable people and will be supportive of such a move. This would
benefit everyone. If you need for a hard copy, you can always buy one.
And we have best of both worlds.

I hope Theosophy Company/ISIS realize the current situation and soon makes the wise decision to upload a pdf file to Internet.

I hear from reliable sources that the matter of electronic edition has drawn the attention of the publishers/custodians. My earnest hope is that they will be pro-active and make the electronic edition available soon.

Of course we are dealing with formal organizations and they do take time to review and decide. Let us all be patient in the meanwhile.
Do you mean B.P. Wadia's commentaries on the Secret Doctrine?  That should be in public domain by now. If so, anyone can just scan and upload it.
B.P. Wadia´s "Studies in The Secret Doctrine" are online at: http://www.teosofiskakompaniet.net/

No. I mean the SD Commentaries recently edited by Gomes and published by ISIS Foundation in Europe.

Sorry I did not see your question all this time.

Let me also add: Todate no feedback from Theosophy Co. All we have heard is that they are considering publishing a book at nearly half the cost. It may be too late since already it has been downloaded by many around the world when it was on Internet.

Since getting everything theosophic for free is so important to you, why not share the website where one can (or could have once) download the Gomes book?  Also have you written directly to the ISIS Foundation?

Paul has nicely clarified my intent and what I was trying to say.

The book cost US$100 and most theosophists, especially outside the Western Countries cannot afford it. A paperback edition could have been put out at a much lower price or even make the material as pdf file, either free or with suggested donation.

Don't we all want a very wide circulation of important theosophical material and hopefully the material would be helpful to many theosophists.

This book is not an isolated case of publishers being out of touch with ordinary men and women who make a living month to month. There is the Hodson's diaries which is out of print and sells for $600 and his collected writings for nearly $60 and the Judge Case book by Pelletier for nearly $100.

Does anyone have a creative idea as to how to make them within reach of ordinary theosophist?

Regarding SD Commentaries, there was a website on Internet several months ago which had a pdf file for download and it was taken down after a couple days. The website address was broadcast in one of the theosophical discussion forums (not theos-talk) and that was how many found out. I had contacted the theosophy co directly and I am told they are looking into the suggestion to make it available within easy reach of theosophists.

Thanks for clarifying my intent.

At no point has MKR or anyone else suggested "getting everything theosophic for free."  And to the extent that MKR has advocated for reasonable pricing, and suggested that some items should be available for free with donations accepted, it has explicitly been motivated by the hope that they will be more widely read.  Not that he personally wants everything for free which your post implies.
