Posthumans
This is inspired by Joe Fulton's post about the how the future laws may evolve for robots. It may also be worthwhile to consider how the technology that will build such amazing capabilities into robots will affect humans?
one of the most significant scientific advances that has taken place in the recent years but largely gone unnoticed is the transformation of Biology into the digital technology. While the world's attention is focused in breaching the speed of light or finding the God particle, the real challenger to God, the Biology has continued its extremely fast paced growth. The creation of synthetic life-form in the lab which can grow exactly in accordance with the code programmed into it has opened hitherto unimagined possibilities.
What the future may be like for humans? Will be become robots? Will the future babies be vaccinated against the emotions like greed, jealousy, violence etc.? Will a biochip with unique IP address be implanted into all humans for direct communication with others? With Google Glass, will we be able to see what others are seeing without the need of a glass. Will we have a generation born with such capabilities? An amazing range of questions can be raised with no clear answers.
Will the Posthumans be the new Gods?

After reading Laws for Robots post and giving some thought, I can see where the topic can lead..
There's a lot of good info out there, especially if you're into Neurbiology Psychology or even Sci-Fi :)
Will we become robots? I wondered this myself..

Optogenetic insights into social behavior discusses the neurobiology in singling out these types of genetic or neuropsychaitric traits. If we have in plan to discover ways to observe and manipulate social dysfunction traits that is closely linked with emotions, what's to say that it wouldn't hinder development of singling out these other emotions such as greed, jealousy and violence?This brings questions about the God particle that Capt. mentioned.. But also makes me wonder about the God Gene? I wonder what we can do with it?

Thanks PS for all the references.
As biologists are beginning to challenge GOD, the future does not appear bright for Him. But spirituality will transform and survive. The transformation of spirituality will come from better and closer understanding of Reality.
