I had a (itbe) or (in the body experience) which makes me believe in the spiritual side of my existence. Words were not spoken but a overwhelming sense consumed me totally. That experience has left me curious as to why me?

I am late in life studying theosophy and searching for truth through knowledge and experience. I am totally mystified by the bible mysteries and the word mystery itself. I feel one has to experience the unknown to understand there is a mystery of the unknown. And wonder why there is a unknown.

Brain and body is partially material then there is the mind being paranormal para physical. It's as is someone lifted a veil from my mind to introduce me to (the other side). Is there a reason to hide a truth within a mystery? Paul

It seems most likely that the reason is our own ignorance. For some reason or another, most people subconsciously choose to not look into these things. Perhaps its fear, perhaps they like where they are at the moment. We are the only thing in the way of the "mysterious."

Dear Paul ,

You cannot become a slave to words and concepts if you want to grasp the truth of matter and spirit . Neither can you look at it side by side both, behave very differently and there do not exist any examples of matter behaving like spirit nor of the spirit behaving like matter . Confusion will be bound to happen if you look to investigate into the spirit by analogies based on the observations or theories in the Physical . Words are only a mode of communication with another person and so it is concerned with the physical only . Feelings (minus) your superimposition of the physical thoughts and concepts and interpretations based on words and ideas and concepts is what is used to communicate with the spirit . Thoughts are the physical and akin to words within oneself and it is this that has to be corrected by the elimination of physical concepts in subtle thinking and feeling , on the contrary the subtle is already there and one has to by proper understanding "leran" to distinguish between the lower knowledge which is physical and hence worldly and the higher knowledge which is oneself alone . There are no unknowns - everything is the known , if done or approached correctly . You can never know the spirit as an object one has to know it as oneself , how you surmount this problem is a question for yourself and not for anyone else . The only thing standing in your way is a total lack of faith which arises from the incredulity that is inherent in every human being to comprehend and correctly inhere in ones own true nature which is infinite and all embracing . The moment somebody says this people "try" to imagine infinity and other things and what the person means - to try to imagine is to have no faith in ones own tru nature due to past bad karmas , which have to be worked away properly .Lack of understanding is due to the inccidence of accumulated dirt in the intellect due to millenia of improper living . Understanding can only arise as the accumulated dirt vanishes . The self or spirit is not attained by mere table talk if you want an indication of its difficulty here are some lines form the Bindu Upanishads also known as the minor upanishads

"........Making the impossible possible ''

"...it is enough if there is one person in one country who is realized , nay in the whole world itself ".

Every known knowledge has to be eschewed with language and ideas and concepts , every thought has to be sunk in silence and then the self takes over by itself , there is no you or me or this and that and mine or "I" or I am or I knew or what , when or why and when and because or so or thus . there is no I feeling means that you will not live in the consciousness of doership when you eat , drink, walk, talk, see, hear ,smell , tatste or feel - everything is simultaneous and instant and one continuous now and here forever only . The body is just an object like any other object having no connection with yourself , consider this You have OOBE and ITBE it is only an instruction that "You are not the body and that it is only a knowing of the body and that you as the knower are different from it ". This is the teaching and this is what is to be pondered upon .I qquote from the Bhagavad Gita a very telling statement

" ...Atonement with the unmanifest is very difficult , the man of knowledge even when he sees, eats or grasps with his hands knows for a fact that that it is not he that does it.... this is the practice of knowledge ".

Just cogitating will not help anything , steady and assiduous practice at all times even when one is not well with great understanding is absolutely necessary for the Self to absorb your empirical nature even whilst embodied". It is a kind of Metaphysical death whereby you are convinced that neither were you born nor wil you die and that you are and have been eternal in nature forever
