This continues to a further question:  If we are all One in God and God is in us is it a matter of surrendering all to God or is it a matter of simply realizing Who we really are and What we are really a part of?  In Zen the purpose of meditation is Realization, though one can assert that to have the discipline to get to that point one must be free of all extraneous "baggage".   Nice question with many apsects to it and many answers.
