Personal experience has no value for finding truth - J. Krishnamurti

In conversation with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Not sure I agree, but well.

Katinka, I greatly appreciate your having posted this video.
At first, I was shocked a little…and, as I listened, my initial reaction had to do with agreeing with him in an ultimate sense. In a more mundane sense, it seems when he uses the term ‘personal’ he is more pointing to at once a cult of personality as well as its associated dogma. This I would agree with too.

On a personal level, do the meditation practices I have been given by different teachers help in any way toward truth becomes the greater question for me. In truth, I can not say for sure. I have noticed changes over the years so perhaps they have helped. I have also experienced, besides the transcending of much ego process, what for lack of a better word I would call truth.

Also, something that arose quite early in my reaction to this video was perhaps he is talking about something specific for his immediate audience. Much has been said about Trungpa. Gossip aside, I have not found his writings (Trungpa’s) to be very attractive. So far, about everything I have seen and/or read about Krishnamurti over the decades has been attractive. Perhaps I am drawn to the cult of ‘K’? ;-)

So, sorry for the apparently rambling ambivalence. You asked, I have done my best for now. Rest assured that I will contemplate this further.

Do you all agree - is personal experience unimportant? Is truth something you experience?
