NASA's view on 2012 Winter Solstice
It seems obligatory to add this site from NASA
I have lived through more "end of the world" dates than I can easily recall.
I expect we may need to form a Dec. 22, 2012 world-survives party...
As to a huge world consciousness shift.... not much to say on that.

How many Doomsday predictions I have lived through....?
There have been more Doomsdays during my lifetime than years I have been alive. Many are ones few people believed in, just small groups - often labeled as cults.
The wikipedia's summary of past doomsdays, and the ones that are still to happen, is the most complete single selection I found. All are referenced by the specific source documentation.
So - this can rather be fun to look at... your doomsday shelter should be kept operational... there is one coming up soon,
