In the midst of a lot of theoretical talk that has been going on regarding the work of Faivre, a number of really important ideas are being left in the dust.  So while we are searching for that perfect framework, method or approach that will make us perfect in the eyes of one institution or another, there is another, and should I add, a much more important idea we have to keep in mind.

How does all of this improve the lives for us and those around us?

So in that light, we're going to post a job located in the nation of Bhutan.  It doesn't pay anything, but the benefits are endless.

The job description says that you are to take Faivre's ideas and raise the gross domestic happiness by five points this year.  So you make the trek and sit down for the interview.  The manager asks:

"Tell me about a time when you had to use these ideas to resolve a conflict?

Then he follows up with:

When you had a situation where you had a very tough choice how did this help you make a good decision?

Please give your answers below and in your words.

========================

Now, to what a STAR interview is.  STAR is a very commonly used interviewing technique.  It is a four part question:

a)  Describe a SITUATION.

b)  What was the TASK that had to be done?

c)  What ACTION did you take to resolve the situation?

d)  What was the RESULT?

Oh, by the way, it's really good to memorize this, just in case you have a job interview.

When and where is the job fair?

a)  Describe the SITUATION.

Our Computer Team refuses all attempts of an organized effort when performing tasks. It is like herding Cats.

b)  What was the TASK that had to be done?

Herd Cats

c)  What ACTION did you take to resolve the situation?

Quit trying to herd Cats. i.e. follow General Theosophy #103.

d)  What was the RESULT?

Total confusion. They all sat still and decided to drink more free coffee supplied by the Corp. After which – they all had greater ideas and went in separate directions. That produced an elegant solution that made $1,000,000,000.00. We also were able to fire the Computer team managers; including the Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Security Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Knowledge Officer. That saved the corporation another $1,000,000,000.00

Hence, the Computer Team members each got a $10,000.00 annual bonus. That cost roughly $500,000.00.

The CEO was apparently so brilliant; they gave him a $4,000,000,000.00 bonus. The corporation lost nearly a $2,000,000,000.00 billion dollars. They decided to lay off ½ of the computer staff. The Board was very happy with the CEO, having shown great leadership in tight financial situations.
