I'm sure some of you have heard of the movie/documentary called "The Secret", there's also another one called "The Opus" where basically they discuss the Laws of Attraction.

I was just wondering what people more akin to Theosophical ways of thinking would take this in to consideration? Do you think this may be a 'generalized' style of theosophy or esoteric info, and is it in line with what others have thought of or written as laws of attraction?

I doubt one can consider it Theosophy in essence.

it basically is New Thought

One can see the history going back to the early 1900's.

The larger religions that support it are listed. These are:

Religious Science, Unity Church and the Church of Divine Science

It is more a New Age concept. That is my take on it. It has been around a (relatively) long time. I am not surprised someone is "cashing in" on the concept.

As a "Belief" it is in the same category as any religion.

I believe the Hermeticist Franz Bardon discusses it. Have to check though. We have people knowledgeable on Bardon here. I defer to them as to his teachings.

Joe has good points. He has a better grasp of the historical off-shoots.
