Here are the results of the survey that was given from Friday, March 26th to today. There are a few surprises, and we would love for you to express your thoughts about this.
Also, the results may serve as an inspiration for you to want to delve more deeply into these topics in our forums.
Please use these results as you will and use your imagination...maybe there's something in here that is really unseen and useful.
In this instance we are looking at four questions, first, we look at mythologies from two different viewpoints, first the respective traditions and cultures, and second the genre or motifs. These go together because neither individually gives a good picture of what is going on. Looking at these results, combined gives a better idea of the why of the myth.
So, with that being said, we'll look at the first two in one section.
First, the traditions:
Next, the motifs:
Next up are the various philosophers. This category should have been listed in the survey as "Philosophers", not as "Schools of Thought". There are some surprises here, especially where it comes to contemporary thinkers such as Daniel Dennett and David Lewis, two contemporary thinkers who play a role in defining the emerging paradigms in philosophy.
The final question centers around your interests in religion. One possible omission here was not including 'theosophist' as a religion. However, given my view that theosophy is a meta-philosophy, to portray it as a separate religion is supporting a misnomer. There is also a follow-up item for this question to capture the input of those who believe that their system of belief does not fall into any of the categories above.
And the "other" listing. There's some interesting responses here.
The tabular responses (with percentages, etc.) are in a follow-up to this posting.
Enjoy and please send in your responses. It is important that we are alerted to items in the data that we may not have caught.
