The war against our planet continues
-----
from Physics Today (Summary):
In March the monthly global average concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide surpassed 400 parts per million, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. That is a “significant milestone,” says Pieter Tans of NOAA. Although 400 ppm was reported in the Arctic in 2012 and in Hawaii in 2013, this is the first time since NOAA began its tracking that the mean global level has been as high. Worldwide, CO2 concentrations have risen more than 120 ppm since the Industrial Revolution, according to Tans. And half of that rise has occurred since 1980. NOAA bases its estimates on air samples taken from 40 sites around the world.
