It is said (and believed) that we live and exist in a illusion and a hologram. It is said science has proven this? Really! It also is said that some people see the air and people walking around in it. I never have experienced that...yet, are anyone hasn't proved that to me yet.
I see my reality as does my family and friends. If that is your belief then allow me to hit you beat you abuse you because we do not exist. I ask and demand you (prove this to me). Are these people mentally ill? I believe in the spiritual side of life because I was touched by it.
Science has many good qualities but cannot prove we have a spiritual nature. The bottom line to these theories are ones belief. I am not trying to be a Smart Aleck but I have been in this world for seventy years I am convinced and persuaded that all this theoretical nonsense is theoretical nonsense.
Observational logic rational reasoning and my experience keep me in the real world. OK with that said, I am hoping someone out there can prove to me (without a doubt) this illusion is real as reality, our selfs our world and our universe is a hologram. Thoughts please. Paul

The above is false.
I'll get to the post you refer to. We will only discuss that in the Forum/Science Category. (NOT in Science Group). i.e. - the post on Talbot and Holographic Universe.
The Interpretation of an established Theory is where Belief comes in. By established theory, I am referring to the Foundational theories. These are heavily attack by experimentalists who want to disprove them. That is an easy way to get a Nobel Prize.
Currently, Science has very few outstanding issues as to explaining the world we live in.
The final really big problem is Consciousness. That is a really tough nut to crack.
" Are these people mentally ill?"
Some are, many aren't. It is a difficult task for the Psychiatrist. Not sure what the current definition is. The neuromaniacs want everything to be explained by Brain chemistry.
Dr. John Conway had some choice statements on that. But he believes in Free Will. (see Science Group Lectures on the Free Will theorem).
well... that is my 2 cents worth.
Joe,
Thank you for saying theory and hypothesis, made my day. Paul
