Of course the 'seven principles in man' and their simplification to 'five sheaths' and 'three bases' is esoteric, but what about numerology and astrology in India? I already posted about how azoth has to do with Sanskrit, but does anyone know a good Dharma book on numerology (of Sanskrit) or astrology? One of the main Classic astrology books from India is easy to find on the 'net, but it is a rather small book and hard to use.
Someone also pointed out to me that sidereal astrology has about as many problems as tropical. I guess (s)he meant in a sidereal year there is little reason to have 12 signs. The orbit has a part from perihelion and a part from aphelion, but maybe there is little reason to divide it into other parts besides those points themselves. I do not know what justification there would be to define midpoints in the orbit. It does not have anything to do with seasons: that is tropical, and signs have even less to do with that, though it is easier to define a tilt midpoint. Not that it has much to do with an objective astrological measurement because there are two hemispheres that affect each other. I think the sun has more affect on people than any arbitrary group of stars. Each individual one has an effect but they are farther away.
Could any Indian TS members enlighten us?
