New Twitter Research: Men Follow Men and Nobody Tweets

From the Harvard Business Review

This is a really interesting insight about how people use the Twitter service. It seems that men are much more likely to follow other men than they are women, or as women are to follow men, or each other.

The other surprising finding out of this study is that the average Twitter user only tweets about once every 74 days. Given the time that Twitter has been around, perhaps this indicates a vulnerability in their market. Perhaps something that performs the same function more efficiently (sorry...thinking about Google Wave again) may render tweets obsolete.
