Inside the Bullied Brain

In a development that is sure to anger those who say "get over it" to those who are victims of schoolyard (and theosophical) bullies, there is a bit of a surprise.  Martin Teicher, from Harvard Universities McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA has found that neurological scarring takes place in children who are emotionally abused are neurologically damaged in many of the same ways as if they were physically abused.

The symptoms show up in the form of depression, anxiety and other neurological disorders.

Mercyhurst pioneers game-based learning in strategic intelligence.

"Do you want to play a game today?" was the question asked by the WOPR computer in the movie "War Games".  In a further development Prof. Kristan Wheaton is teaching future generations of gamers strategic thinking through gaming.  It seems that somewhere fragging your opponent isn't the highest goal in life.

Was Israel the Birthplace of Modern Man?

The age of modern man keeps getting pushed back further and further.  Who knows the limits?  In a recent announcement, archeologists at Tel Aviv University have found remnants of a 400,000 year old modern man in a cave near Rosh Ha'Ayan. 

So, once again the field of archeology is turned on its head.  What else is new?
