Don't mean to be crass, but . . .
I find it hard to belly-laugh about Theosophy, since it means so much to me. However, I am very much generally irreverent..I Post on the Atheist Forum, for instance, because they do not (ususally) censure and I can be myself---an old a******. I make no apologies for this: my wonderful wife of 40 years now can attest to my own estimation of myself, although she is too religious to come out and call me that. Being an old Army Vietnam Vet and retired from the Air Force, I have known many "a*******" in my life, but few actually admitted to being one. I do/I am. I'm an old soldier who has seen a lot, and tried almost every religion the world has known, until I found Zen Buddhism (and had a Satori experience) and my much-beloved Theosophy. I do laugh with you---I wholeheartedly agree with the "fourth object." "House" (Hugh Laurie) is, however, my own favorite curmudgeon. It shows that you can have an edge (be an a******) and still be a healer. There are too many who think they have an "edge" by killing and slaughtering other beings (animals included). Anyone can kill; few can heal! Thank "whatever gods that be" (Swinburne) that someone wrote and acted "House" for us!

House is my idol. I have worked with doctors for almost 40 years now, and the House ones are the best. My own personal physician is 73 this year, one of the best diagnosticians in the city. He and I have had numerous discussions over why diagnose a certain disease on paper if you can see it? It does nothing but raise their insurance rates, does nothing for their health (particularly in long-term chronic diseases, for which there is little or no affordable treatment) and generally depresses everyone.
Also, in terms of what I will leave on this planet after I go, in addition to being an a**hole, I hope that there will be a few people who read my obit, and say, "She was the funniest person I ever met."

You seem confused in both your estimation of yourself and your perception of your life state. House is a fantasy whose popularity is that folk identify with the brilliant outsider doctor who battles with his own demons but still manages to perform miracles on a daily basis.Is a dead cat worthless or priceless ? Go forth and be like the House doctor and make a difference to the lives of people who are falling apart in your neck of the woods in these present times .

Well what I say is one person's a****** is another's inspiration at times. It is all a matter of interpretation, definition and intent. It is easy to label things and people to be a certain thing and all we are doing is limiting ourselves. We are all a many faceted creature and sometimes we are stuck in the a****** facet. lol.
