I went to first meeting on last sunday to TTS on Fergusson Rd.
It was great experience, since how long you are here
Hi Doss,
I am residing now in the Seattle area. I am attending a small group that meets at the Kent Library twice a month. We studied, the Key, the Bhagavad-Gita and now we started with the Transactions of the B. Lodge.
Until very recently Gene and I were attending the Narada Lodge in Tacoma, but not long after Gene and I joined, Wheaton sued several officials of the Lodge and that action destroyed the Narada Lodge. Most members decided not to stay after that. The Lodge finally closed down and Wheaton took over the property, We had been studying books with the original teachings, like Geoffrey Farthing's "Deity, Cosmos and Man," and the "Key to Theosophy." Wheaton took over the property on March 1. They were not interested in helping us grow back to the original numbers, what they accomplished was its destruction, so they could pick up the pieces.
That is what is happening in the Pacific Northwest. Your friend,
Rudy
I'm not sure. I did attend a meeting of the San Antonio TS group, but it was not exactly a welcoming group of folks, so I did not return. I attended a group led by Gary Barnhart in Austin for about a year, a few years back, and that was quite positive and enriching, but my schedule no longer allowed it so I had to drop out. That group is still going, I think. This is an old picture of me from the 1970s I use as a joke. I'll put up a more recent photo.
Recently, I attended a few meetings of a Thomas Merton study group at Viva Books on Broadway, which was also a positive experience. That's still going. I did readings for both of my poetry books at Viva Books in 2006 and 2007.
