So I have another Hebrew question: we seem to have a pretty tiny population after the "flood". Noah has three children, but only Shem's son Abraham is considered "Jewish". Why? Arent't Ham and Japeth Jewish too? I don't get it.

Hi! Do you have any references: book, chapter(s) and verse(s).

The story of Noah is just a symbolic event. Actually, Noah and the flood are two books intertwined.  Almost all stories like this have similar stories in most religions.

I just need clarification and references. Then, one can address the issues.

p.s. The Quran has much to say about Noah as well.

A friend pointed out that if the wives that gave birth to Ham and Japeth were not Jewish, then the child is not Jewish. It is a matriarchal religion.
