Memes are to ideas and philosophies what genes are to beings...biologically and epistimologically, the basic building blocks. Richard Dawkins coined the term in his book, "The Selfish Gene" in 1984. Examples of common memes in culture are: "If you don't accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior you'll go to hell," or "Be good or Santa Claus will leave a lump of coal in your stocking". These are all very simple ideas which we carry in our minds and infect others with, a "mind virus" if you will.

Theosophy and the Theosphical Movement have a number of these memes. Please take a minute or two and write down those which come to mind as a reply.
