Harvard Professor George Church has brought about a new technology known as the evolution machine. Basically what it does is to go through many samples and test for efficacy very rapidly. The effect of this is to eliminate many of the "useless" combinations that current trial and error have to deal with.

Of course, all of this assumes that consciousness plays no role...hmmm. I'm not so sure if I were a betting man that it would be a wise bet. Perhaps that would be a good adaptation of Pascal's Wager, except that you substitute "Consciousness" for God.

In Sri Aurobindo's vision of evolution towards the 'Life Divine', new stages of evolution are a higher organization of the previous one. Life initiated a new organization and potential of Matter. The Secret Doctrine and other books of ancient origin all discuss the evolution of humanity. Whether it's the Bible, the Puranas or the various Buddhist cosmological writings, everyone seems to have some say on how we evolved.

However, it's kind of funny that, for whatever reason, outside of brief explanations of the Yugas in Hinduism that nothing really points to where we sit in the grand scheme of things. It's almost like someone want us to know how the clock or the calendar has been set, but then turns right around and says "we're not going to tell you what day or time it is."

Why?

In the Mahatma Letters to A.P. Sinnett, the point is made to Sinnett in Letter #23b (3rd Ed): "No doubt there was. Egyptian and Aryan records and especially our Zodiacal tables furnish us with every proof of it besides our inner knowledge."

This, in my view, demonstrates quite clearly that the use of astrology in relation to the various cycles was a valid concept. If this is true, then the implication is that we can use the same knowledge much in the same manner as Asimov uses the Prime Radiant in his Foundation Series to predict the general flow of the future. Now, if there is any validity at all to any of this, then one can assume that even smaller cycles in our evolution can be discerned.

So, with that in mind, what time is it?

In my years of asking this question, I have run across no astrologer, save an old Theosophist in West Virginia, that virtually no one has heard of, who has dared to ask this question. Not even Geoffrey Barborka, who in "The Divine Plan", who came ever so close in his examination of the cycles via the Hindu Yugas and other cycles, managed to link it to the one science/art that is widely used today.
Solving The Big Questions As If Thinking Matters by Dr. R. The big questions are where did we come from, why are we here, and where are we going. They have plagued the human mind since whenever it was that we became self-aware on planet Earth. But no questions have been subject to more speculation, belief, and faith, nor have the answers resulted in more division and bloodshed.
This book argues that facts and reason are the classroom of God; belief and faith are the playground of evil. The materialistic/evolutionary and the common religious explanations of origins are not based upon fact and logic, but rather belief and faith.

Competently bringing together all fields of knowledge and exploration, including science, philosophy, and the paranormal, and fearlessly challenging the group-think givens, opens up exciting new vistas of understanding.

If you sense that we have a higher purpose and that this life is not all there is, but yet lack a sound scientific and rational basis, this book will fill your intellectual armamentarium. It is the only book that approaches the subject of our origin and destiny using truth as the only goal, and without the perverting biases of materialism and religion.
Many of these objections have been known for a very long time. This raises the question why so many scientists choose to ignore the fundamental problems with evolution-theory.
Could it be they are afraid to acknowledge the possibility of spiritual views on life having any ground? It certainly seems so, judging the work of Richard Dawkins, whose work "The God Delusion" shows his ignorance of philosophical questions, beautifully shown by Alister McGrath, in his booklet "The Dawkins Delusion? Atheist fundamentalism and the denial of the divine". I think you've probably all heard of the way in which some people are interpreting quantum physics to mean that we're all free to create our own reality? Or as our friends at Theosophy Watch put it: Does mind over matter? Weirdly enough - that's not at all a viable conclusion from the standpoint of quantum physics. There are definite limits to the freedom of an electron for instance.

I do think that there is some reason for taking seriously the idea that consciousness manifested the universe to begin with though. The tangled web of observer observing itself and thereby manifesting itself has a strange ring of truth for me. However I do think it has to take into account the possibilities of that moment of manifestation. At last scientists are acknowledging that animals too are not led purely by survival, but by morals too. This is important, because it helps us keep morals as an important point of interest in our society. Luckily, the one advantage of this economic crisis is that it too helps reminds us what happens in human society when morals are no longer a guiding principle in an important minority.
I do think it rather sad that we need to look at the animal kingdom to justify morality in among humans, but that's how it seems to be.
