The Mother's inscription for Volume 4 (1963) of her
Agenda of the Supramental Action Upon Earth

(Note: The Mother's Symbol contains the POINT at the Center)

In late September I was shown an intriguing comment made by Sri Aurobindo a day after his 63rd birthday in 1935:

'Now I have got the hang of the whole hanged thing ‒ like a very Einstein I have got the mathematical formula of the whole affair (unintelligible as in his case to anybody but myself) and am working it out figure by figure.' Works Of Sri Aurobindo, CWSA, Letters On Himself And The Ashram, Remarks On The Current State Of The Sadhana, 1931-1947

Few in the Integral Yoga community have demonstrated any interest in this 'mathematical formula' that Sri Aurobindo was working out, which the Mother admitted in 1965, was still yet to be fully worked out.1 I once brought up the matter of this mathematical formula, and the significance of numbers in regards to the Supramental Action on Earth in an online group of people who considered themselves authorities on matters of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother's yoga (Auroconf), and they proceeded to make fun of Ms. Norelli-Bachelet's use of number, especially the number 9, in her cosmology. It became clear that they abhorred the idea that Ms. Patrizia Norelli-Bachelet had carried the Supramental Realization further than Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, and the idea that there is actually a precise mathematical formula that is in essence a Supramental Law or established Matrix, barring or allowing comprehension of the Supramental Action or Consciousness-Force on the Earth. Such a reaction is understandable, but such ridicule and incredulity doesn't change the actual looming necessity to comprehend how number and math IS essential to the unfolding or expansion of the Supramental Seed. The ridicule emphasizes or underscores the difficulties encountered when new knowledge is introduced to an inflexible MIND SET. ...

A long over due response to David Melik's comment:

The Mathematical Formula of the Supramental Descent

Comment by Lori Tompkins on January 10, 2013 at 7:45pm

Hey David ... see http://puraniccosmologyupdated.blogspot.com/2013/01/contraction-zer...,

Two parts are posted, and a third will be posted in the next couple of days. I am working on a post for my blog on the topic of the 'formula' as well.

Dear Lori,

There is no Supramental Law or Matrix that bars comprehension of the whole - anybody who claims to be followers of Maha Yogi Aurobindo and the Mother and think so have probably been so unlucky to have not been blessed by their Master . It is well known in India that a person who is a true Yogi gets very high capabilities into language, mathematics, medicine, astronomy and arts - his purva ashrma (or background) is of no consequence

these are attendant knowledges that such people get . These are but considered as ''lesser knowledges'' by a true man of wisdom -for them it is the Self alone that matters and inhering in it - after inhering in self realization according to their previous tendencies they may nurture these knowledges separately or wholly . But there is an  essential thing involved here - Maths and numbers and every science opens up their unseen secrets only to a man who has realized the self - never is it possible for others since they ARE subsidiary knowledges to knowing the self . So lesser people who are still bound by the ''I'' ness will never get at the truth . Nature (which is the moving power of the non dual ) opens up her vast wealth only to a man she recognizes as one with her and above and non moving . But again the degree of knowledge in followers would be reflected in them according to the degree of knowledge (or faith) they have in the masters teachings - so one cannot discount the theories of Ms.Patrizia - it is after all pure knowledge - and its connections known only to her , which have been received by her as a benediction which is uninterrupted . There is nothing wrong with the use of numbers to explain the inexplicable , if it has made enough sense to her . For these things do explain the manifest in more detail so that we may apprehend our self. People who scorn at such things only scorn at themselves - like pointing at a mirror and making faces . There is such an experience ''Knowing which , nothing else need be known '' as the upanishads say '' Apta Kama , Krita Kritya '' ( Having known through right desire , a man feels he has nothing more to be done  ).
