Abusive and Threateing Email from Australian Naotional Secretary

I received this email from a distraught Dara Tatray who appears to be having a mental breakdown but I am not a medical professional so I can't say for certain.

Hi James
Members just pay their dues and don't demand transparency and information. Glad you asked.
Check with your lodge and national center and see if they are responsive.
I hope more dues paying members start asking questions. That is good for theosophy

It looks like whatever is going on between the parties concerned are their personal issues.

On a general note, at International level, there are serious issues at Adyar which are fully discussed in www.fb.com/theosophynews and https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/theos-talk/info . These are independent in that they do not accept any financial support from any organization or trust or Foundation. You can search past postings there and bring yourself up todate. The key issues facing TS are:
1. Mass revocation of eight life members in India which resulted in their going to courts. It is also rumored that two members were kicked out in Australia. Revocations do not come out since they are kept hidden under the guise of protecting the privacy of members. The the current cases in India became known because they went to court to get justice. Such mass revocation of individual members never took place during the administration of seven Presidents.
2. The last election of President did not have controls typical of democratic elections. The outcome is questioned and now before the courts due to serious allegations in the election process and due very large membership of Indian Section, the outcome is claimed to be flawed.
3. There is lack of transparency of the operation at International level and everyone knows that under present Internet environment transparency is demanded. Membership is kept dark on important decisions at the highest level. For example the Dec 30th 2016 General Council meetings proceedings are yet to be disclosed.

Hope this helps.

Hi MKR & John,

It has been confirmed to me by the writer that the email content is correct.

Can anyone enlighten me as too exactly what is going on at Adyar and the conflict V. Raghavan would have with Pedro.
Australian members like myself appear to be kept in the dark although our membership fees pays wages both Nationally and Internationally.
Thanks James

The message seems to be legit. Many top leaders in TS are in great stress, mostly created by themselves, and anything is possible and so no one should be surprised. It is a time when we need to send our loving thoughts to our brothers and sisters to help them to help spread theosophy to the suffering world. We all know the current condition of theosophical movement and it looks like the future is going to be driven by truly independent forums such as this one. Theosophy.net does not accept any donation or financial support from any organization, Trust or Foundation directly or indirectly and thus maintains its independence. It is run by unpaid volunteers such as John and our thanks are due for their dedication and help.

By the way, for those unfamiliar with the names in the message, Pedro was International Secretary and Linda is his wife who is currently General Secretary of the Australian Section and also heads the Esoteric Section. Both of them worked at Adyar in recent years when Radha was President. Linda was International Vice President at that time. Dara is former General Secretary of Australian Section.

This is the first time I see four letter words used in theosophical correspondence even though in the West, its use is routine and generally avoided in cultured circles. No one should have any problem so long as it results in spread of theosophy.

If any of those mentioned in Raghu's post wants to respond or clarify, they can easily do it. Theosophy News on Facebook and Twitter are also open to them.

Hi James -

I have no idea if it is true. One needs to get  Dr. Veeravalli Raghavan "Raghu" to give more detail. There are over 10 people (sent-to/CC etc) who can confirm it. Have they all confirmed or denied it? It should be an easy check. You can email the list of recipients to see what they say. It should be done by an Australian TS member (just my opinion). If it is proven false, I'll remove it. Any member on the distribution list who has, or has not, received this letter is very welcome to comment on it as well.

There seems to be a lot of missing information.

Rhagu- can you please give more detail?

Peace -

John

Fascinating...

Letters written in anger and distributed to that wide an audience is a disgrace.

Any more background you wish to share would be appreciated. The members may not know the History behind this.....

Peace -

John
